About

What Clapping Cat is

Clapping Cat is a free web tool for the Black Cat Clapping meme. You upload or record a video, place the clapping black cat on it, pick the stretch it claps over, add a caption and download an MP4 that's ready for TikTok, Reels or Shorts. There's no sign-up, no credits and nothing to install.

Who makes it

Clapping Cat is a small independent fan project. It isn't affiliated with TikTok, Instagram or the creator of the clip, and it isn't a reupload site: the only thing it does is help you put the cat on your own footage.

Where the cat comes from

The clapping cat is an AI-generated clip that @merkurianin posted on Instagram on 25 September 2026: he feeds his black cat, and the cat grins and slowly claps with human hands. He also posted it on TikTok with the caption “use my meme for your videos”, and that clip is the one this tool uses, cut out of its tiled-floor background. All rights in the clip remain with its creator.

How your videos stay private

Everything happens in your browser. Your video is decoded, the cat and caption are drawn on it, and the MP4 is encoded on your own device with WebCodecs. The video never reaches our servers, and closing the tab removes it. We use Google Analytics to count visits; the Privacy Policy has the details.
