What is the clapping cat meme?
The clapping cat is a black cat with a human grin and human hands, slowly applauding. It started as an AI-generated clip posted on Instagram in late September 2026 and became a green-screen reaction meme on TikTok within days.
People drop the cat into their own videos to applaud something that doesn't deserve it: a bad decision, a weak excuse, a teacher confiscating a phone. The slower and smugger the clap, the better.
The clip itself is about 7 seconds long. The cat grins and claps four times, then its face turns back into an ordinary cat's and it reaches toward the camera. Most clapping cat videos keep the whole clip, so the joke ends on that reach.
The recipe is the same everywhere: a one-line caption at the top that sets up the situation, your own footage underneath, and the black cat clapping in a corner. That's exactly what this clapping cat meme generator makes.
The cat in this tool is the original viral clip by @merkurianin, who posted it with “use my meme for your videos”. This site is a fan tool, not affiliated with TikTok, Instagram or the creator.
